Persona 2 and Persona 3 are easy recommendations. Especially since both are sale on PSN right now.

It's worth buying a PSP just to play Crisis Core, imo. I liked FF: Dissidia, too. I honestly wish I'd kept my PSP, but after I have all my PS4 launch titles and Vita paid for, I'm going to buy another one.
All the talk about backwards compatibility really screws with my feng shui. Old consoles will always play the old games we love so much.

Jean D'Arc is a very underrated game on PSP.
GTA China Town is an amazing game if you can get passed all the reading.
Sid Myers Pirates is also another game I found myself playing a lot of back in the PSP days.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0 probably has the best sound track in any racing game on PSP. There is also a lot you can customize on your cars
PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is the best tower defense game I've ever play. I put Steam like hours into this game.

My only beef with portable gaming is that it hurts my neck and back from always looking down.
In fact, I probably have terrible posture from playing Pokemon for years.
